Let us talk about how specific items can become more than my brain can handle. I've wanted a gray sweater for a while. After buying the G.H. Bass one in two colors I was positive that I couldn't justify another turtleneck. I had the star one right? That should be enough.

And yet, despite all the mental gymnastics, I couldn't stop wanting one. There's something about a long sleeved turtleneck that I just love, and after finally trying on everything I could find this month I came back to this one. On sale, the wrong size, but a piece I'd seriously contemplated at the beginning of the season. Thankfully the closet gods were smiling down on me, because this fit and it's super warm, and will easily serve me for years (especially as I've already been playing with layering it over some of my longer button downs). 

So there you go. No matter how many closet resolutions I try to make, or minimalist mantras I repeat to myself, sometimes I just need 3 long-sleeve turtleneck sweaters.




Fit Note: This sweater is currently sold out online (it went on sale a while ago) but I just bought this in-store so you may still be able to get your hands on it. It also runs bigger than even I had suspected and I'm wearing a size small here - other than a little lost length when I raise my arms, it fits perfectly. Weird but true.

In case you don't follow me on Instagram, I spent this past weekend in NY and it was freaking fabulous (it even snowed!). I focused less on pictures and more on video snippets, so I'll let you know when those are up :).

Oh and if you were wondering, I wore the exact same outfit both days, switching out the shirt I wore underneath my sweater to keep things fresh. Those leggings made 4+ hour bus rides much more pleasant.

Don't judge me ok? I love this belt, I love this sweater, and somehow they're finding their way onto my body pretty often.

In other news this mix of neutrals and prints managed to confuse the heck out of a Marshall's cashier who was convinced I had to work in retail. I just like patterns ok?! Sheesh.

I would probably consider this the pinnacle of my dots + strips obsession and my favorite outfit to boot. There's a high level of whimsy that works for me and the Spring colors I'm longing for. Now if only Old Navy would come out with another skirt like this one!

After wearing this skirt a few times I really do feel like it would benefit from a petticoat. Maybe not a huge one but the shape is such that to really show off this skirt I think some help in the fullness department would be a good idea. Thoughts?

I'm always looking for new ways to wear what I own so for this particular outfit I took a page from Cee's book and matched my red turtleneck with my denim peplum top. I love how she pairs red & navy blue (check out her post devoted just to the red turtleneck!) but since I'm a little lacking in that color department I figured this worked well enough.
