Old & New

This post is a bit of a project in options, since I just recently purchased this blouse from the Atlantic Pacific x Halogen collection. Trying it on in store I could mostly see what I wanted to do with it, but I also hadn't bought such a brightly patterned piece - outside of a dress - in a long time. Thankfully these vintage trousers I picked up over the summer are turning into a wardrobe workhorse, and pair so well with pretty much everything. The gray blazer (also second hand, this time from Poshmark) I threw over it at the last minute (this was almost pictured with a leather jacket) and the look felt finished to me. The super high rise pants and long length blazer balance each other out nicely in my opinion, while the subtle tweed textures plays well with the floral print.

I don't really know what's wrong with me that I would think taking pictures NEXT TO THE WATER on a windy as hell day would be a good idea. Since it's done now, I hope you'll just excuse me and the overly hand-centric photos that I had to take to keep my hair out of my face/lipstick.
I've been keeping an eye out for plaid double-breasted blazers from pretty much the moment they exploded all over the internet, but I never really seriously considered thrifting one because fit is such a huge component of the overall look. Then - duh - it occurred to me that using a thrifted blazer I already owned and loved might be a good way to tackle the problem. I found this Pendleton piece on Poshmark for $12, and it was worth every penny :D.

two seasons in one

I was joking with a friend recently about how it felt like we'd suddenly gotten two seasons in one, but honestly it's how I feel. The fall explosion of leaves came late to the DC and since I'm a "Christmas as early as possible" kinda woman, the combination means I'm planning outfits that are appropriate for Fall weather but with all the Christmas cheer I can muster.
All that to say, I hope you enjoy the plaid juxtaposed against all the pretty leaves p0rn. It makes me damn happy.
