While I've got nothing against the Hyatt's gloriously colorful mural, I'm also glad there was some greenery to take pictures against - I feel like Moana pops so well here!

Also, I'm not ashamed to say this costume drove me a little crazy. I tend to not do super elaborate costumes, in the past I've happily sourced other creatives to do so, but for some reason after Warrior Princess Daisy I thought I could handle it. In the end I feel like I pulled together a good representation of one of my favorite princesses, but I also feel like I drove myself crazy on details no one cares about. It made me think a little about why I cosplay at all, but since I don't have a good answer on that one, it's on to the pictures!

Would you believe me if I told you that this is not my favorite t-shirt and jeans look? I picked up this Marine Layer tee as it was being discontinued, and while it's not bad, do you know what's better than a soft black t-shirt? A soft white t-shirt (which sounds like I'm being accidentally racist but in reality I just think it makes the color of my skin pop more).

In other news when I went to see my hair stylist last month we went with a darker brown with red undertones because I'd like to phase the red out (it's very high maintenance and I'm sick of leaking color everywhere) but you know what I see here? RED red hair, which probably means I'm f*cked cause I'm not going to chop it all off and start over.

Despite this past weekend being one of the warmest that wasn't also *constantly rainy and humid*, I did not spend any of it in a pool. Which would be tragic but instead I joined almost a thousand people at All Star Comic Con, one of the newest additions to the DMV's geek convention line up.

I haven't been to that many first year conventions, though I guess with three (or four if you count Wicomicon) under my belt I do have a pretty good idea of what I like. All Star excelled at communications and on-site customer service, could have done better at providing a bigger number of diverse (by topic) panels for attendees and seating/accessibility access for any of the activities done in the atrium area. All in all I would give it a B-/B, and would go again in the future.

Also, this root situation. It's getting really real and I should probably do something about that.

I'm still running hard and fast towards that moving day deadline (surprise! DC to DC but moving always sucks), even if the exact date is up in the air. Apparently my high levels of anxiety are manifesting themselves in the desire to get rid of ALL THE THINGS, which is interesting to say the least.

I actually enjoy purging my closet periodically, removing items and either donating or re-homing pieces, but at this point it's become that thing I do to feel better, even though there's not really anything else to get rid of. In an attempt to redirect my energy to the things I loved enough to keep, I picked up this super cheap ASOS top to pair with all sorts of "fancy" skirts. It's light weight and perfect for summer (and not see through!) and tones down this elaborate skirt. Wins all around!
