Lou Lou
yes, it's another jumpsuit
Tuesday, July 24, 2018 • Lou Lou, Missoma, Neiman Marcus Last Call, OOTD, Seychelles, The Frankie Shop, World Market
Hi, name is Dana and I have a jumpsuit problem. Not one that's big enough to make me throw out half my wardrobe in favor of them, but I'm sure at this point I probably own more than enough for one person.
I picked up the one below from The Frankie Shop, a store in SoHo that combines new and vintage pieces (that I only went to because of Lizzy Hadfield). What's possibly most mindboggling about this piece is that it's considered "one size". Have I ever fit something labeled one size before in my life? If I did it was definitely before my memory was good enough to grasp the remarkability of that, so it doesn't count.
You can see from the link below that (obviously) it doesn't fit me like the model, but this is one of those rare moments where I like the way it fits me better. With my curves I don't do well in pieces that are super large and oversized, so the wide legs, belt, and fitted torso are more flattering. I've already worn this a couple of times and will continue to do so, because it's hot as hell in DC and this jumpsuit is 100% linen and unlined.

I know, I know - another floral dress. I'm not claiming to be the progenitor of unique personal style, but dang if I don't love a good dress. And this one is 100% cotton, which is an incredible win in DC's humid summers.
Now to be honest, I haven't been impressed with Anthropologie's offerings in a while, but I think they're having a very strong Spring/Summer. The last time I was in my local store I tried on a bunch of different dresses and tops, and while this was the only one that made it home with me, that doesn't mean some other piece wouldn't be perfect for you.

*Fit Note: In my opinion this dress runs big. If you're larger than I am on top then perhaps you would like the size large better, but for me I preferred the slightly more fitted look of the medium. Also, even though the dress is well made, the zipper is a little finicky and likes to get stuck right at the seam, so get to around I slide the sleeves on after I've finished zipping it up all the way.
summer time best

I've seemed to have accidentally put together a post of a bunch of older pieces! Before this year's every other month adventure, wandering through the sale racks of my local department stores was a very regular activity for me. Surprisingly Bloomingdale's has been the biggest hit by far, with a couple of wonderful swimsuits and this dress. Which I tried on slightly for sh*ts and giggles, but was amazing and only $60. $60 people!

and then there was Meridian Hill

Before this past weekend I had never been to Meridian Hill, never seen Malcolm X Park, and I can't explain to you how that sentence makes any more sense than the non-sense that it's making now. I'm an idiot.
Luckily my friend is more informed than me and is willing to get sucked into my hobby, and suggested this locale. You'll definitely be seeing it again - I can't wait until the fountains are turned on! - but until then we can all enjoy the incredible greenary.

I promise I was wearing sandals, even if all of my favorite pictures don't include them, lol.

Remember that post last week where I talked about all the things I was thinking about for Fall and I specifically said that I already had a lot of dresses?
Yeah, this still happened.
Fit thoughts: With the slight keyhole back and thinly strapped racer neckline, you should probably wear a strapless bra with this dress but I said f*ck it. My favorite racerback bras have a cute lace back and I just used a couple pins to make sure the straps didn't stray too far from the general outline the dress provided. Also, this dress isn't lined which I think is ridiculous for $200, so unless you're absolutely in love with it I kind of feel like this falls better into the "buy on sale" category.

summer ready
Wednesday, June 15, 2016 • Ann Taylor, Anthropologie, Esprit, etsy, Forever21+, Lou Lou, OOTD
So in my quest to find vacation pieces that also work for life in general, I have to recommend this dress from Ann Taylor. I was actually in store to try-on this one (didn't work for me, too long and the waist didn't hit the right spot), but the fun print combined with hot weather friendly linen makes the Amalfi Halter Dress a winner. Plus the halter comes up high enough on the sides and along the back to allow for comfortably wearing a strapless bra :).
