Eva Zoe
mint & blue
Monday, April 21, 2014 • Anthropologie, eShakti, Eva Zoe, Forever21, Kate Spade, Target
I think Atlantic-Pacific definitely has the right idea when it comes to sunglasses for outfit photos. Suddenly I feel chicer and my inadvertent resting bitch face doesn't look quite so bitchy.
In other news I am desperately trying to find nude pumps for Spring/Summer. These platform peep toe shoes from last year are a good option, but I want something closed toed in preferably an almond or pointy shape. Like most black/mixed women finding shoes in the right shade of "nude" is a job in and of itself so wish me luck!
Oh and before I go, one note on this skirt - I wasn't paying attention to the website when I ordered this, so I didn't notice the stretch panel on the back of the waist. It's got enough give that I definitely could have sized down (I'm wearing a Large/14 here) so keep that in mind if you decide to pick on up for yourself.

So....about this outfit. In my head it made total sense - different patterns, but both in shades of blue, with white-ish backgrounds to connect the two. Once I had it on my body though I couldn't help but feel like the execution was questionable.
Normally I would just put these in the 'eh' outfit pile and move on, but you know what? We all have 'eh' days so I feel like it's only fair to share mine too :).
celebrating five years
Monday, April 29, 2013 • Banana Republic, Eva Zoe, J.Crew, OOTD
A few weekends ago I got to celebrate being super old. Well I guess 5 years is a milestone, but Duke your weekend just reminded me that next year it will have been 10 YEARS since I graduated highschool. WTF.
Still any excuse to dress up, dance, and drink too much works for me so I decided to have a grand ol' time at Saturday's gala! I combined my J.crew dress with my Banana Republic skirt and except for looking back and maybe wanting to add a belt I'd say the outfit was a success. I'm learning as I go folks, to always look at pieces with new eyes and combine them in new ways - I'm determined to recognize my closet for the treasure trove it is dammit!
Oh, did I hear you say you wanted a pic of the event itself?

OY. Me and wine can sometimes be a questionable combination, lol.
stepping stones

Top: White House Black Market ~ Skirt: Old Navy ~ Shoes: Eva & Zoe (via Off Broadway)
Apparently this outfit was only the beginning! I stepped it up with the dots and stripes paring last week and I have to say I love it. I think they complement each other without being over the top, and the nude shoes help lengthen my leg line and make this wonderful skirt even more beautiful.
love
Friday, August 24, 2012 • Anthropologie, Eva Zoe, OOTD, Shiraleah
No really. I love this dress. Now to add a nude colored convertible bra to the 'must buy' list....
Dress: Anthropologie ~ Clutch: Shiraleah (via Hautelook) ~ Shoes: Eva & Zoe (via Off Broadway)
Shirt: J.Crew ~ Skirt: Old Navy (old) ~ Shoes: Off Broadway (old)
You'll see this skirt again in another OOTD soon, but I wanted to go ahead and take the opportunity to say 'oooh Old Navy wins!' - especially in the clearance section.
Oh and in case you haven't see the latest and greatest from The Bloggess (aka Jenny Lawson) I've embedded her new book trailer below. Which, in case you didn't know, is FUNNER THAN THE BIBLE.
(And Happy April Fools Day too! )
