What does one wear to Dim Sum? Clothing that in no way restricts the tummy. The end.

(Well it's the end unless you're someone who's not me, because then I would probably also have to recommend maxi dresses, since they do a great job of skimming - not clinging - to any post gorging food baby.)

Product Round Up

As a consequence of DC getting hotter and hotter and starting a new job that puts me in the middle of one of the main shopping hubs available, I've been trying a lot of products. Initially it was to figure out what to do with a face that tends to ends up looking greasier than a frying pan combined with a leftover vacation tan that pushed me out of every foundation I owned.

Trying a bunch of skin treatment/makeup stuff at the same time is almost never recommended. It makes it hard to pinpoint exactly what is or isn't working for you, but I'm a *rule breaker* (or more honestly, I can just never wait to put ALL THE THINGS on my face). Despite that little issue though, I thought that before I gave you more of my thoughts on any one item I'd show you, generally, what's been on my counter lately:

1) Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser
2) Murad Clarifying Mask
3) LORAC Skinny Palette
4) MAC Cleanse Off Oil
5) Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Foundation
6) Perfekt Skin Perfection Gel
7) Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro
8) Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Solo Eyeshadow
9) Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Primer
10) Guerlain 'Écrin 6 Couleurs' Eyeshadow Palette
11) SK-II Facial Treatment Essence
12) Laura Mercier Oil Free Primer
13) Laure Mercier Mineral Primer
14) Giorgio Armani Maestro Liquid Eyeliner
15) Clinique Pore Refining Foundation
16) Giorgio Armani Fluid Master Primer
17) BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming
18) MAC Mattifying Gel
(I know this list looks ridiculous. I'd be more ashamed of myself if I didn't always return things I wasn't 100% positive about loving.)

Anything in particular you'd like to see reviewed first? If not I'll just pick items out of a hat but I thought I'd give you guys first dibs!

beat the heat

Guys, DC is hot. Again. I was hoping summer would hold off a little longer and we could enjoy a few more low 80* days, but alas, that hope  has been crushed. In my eternal battle to create work appropriate outfits that won't leave me dying of heat stroke, I brought together new and old to create this colorful but perfect for work look.

The necklace might be better left as the piece you put on once you get to your destination though, as during these pictures things definitely started to get sticky under the top.

super bright unfortunate photos! After playing with these for much too long and doing some Googling, I've had to face the sad reality that these are just screwed. I focused my camera on the darker hedges behind me so when I hit the timer every one of them ended up over exposed.

FML.

Rather than just scrap the post, because I really do love the outfit I wore on the Fourth of July, I thought I'd share them with the caveat that I'll photograph this dress again later. The detailed floral lace is adorable and I wish you guys could see it better -  at least I can tell you that it's super comfy and perfect for hot summer days.

UPDATE: The dress I'm wearing here is on SALE and an extra 50% off today (7/10) at Banana Republic! Get on that!

weekends the way they're suppose to be

Thanks to the lovely gift of a 3-day weekend, I have to say that this July 4th has been one of my favorites. I saw friends, ate good food, and generally just got to enjoy the relaxation that comes from doing nothing. Ok well almost nothing, because I did clean my bathroom and do some laundry, lol.

I hope if you celebrated it was a good one, and didn't get washed out by Hurricane Arthur.

Happy Monday!
